Appreciate everything your associates do. Nothing else can quite substitute for a few well-chosen, well-timed, sincere words of praise. They’re absolutely free and worth a fortune. – Sam Walton
Today’s podcast is all about embracing a culture of appreciation in your leadership!
People want to feel valued and appreciated, even if it is just a simple thank you. But sadly, many employees report not feeling appreciated in the workplace. I believe most leaders do appreciate their teams, but maybe don’t always know how to show it. So, in this conversation, we discuss some of the ways our team shows appreciation and hopefully it will trigger some creative ideas that you can innovate on for your teams. A few of the strategies we cover include legacy leader, Catalations, anniversary notes, a 40 Days of Kindness campaign and digital office billboards – all things you can do too.
When it comes to appreciation, it is important that the team appreciates each other, but point leaders also have a huge responsibility to exemplify appreciation to their teams in their own way. I’ll share some of the small ways I try to lead this effort as the point leader of Southwest Michigan First. Heads up – one of those ideas includes oyster shells!
Whether you have a budget big or small, leaders need to be mindful about developing a culture of appreciation and remembering to recognize their team members for a job well done in their own unique style.
Question: What strategies do you use in your organization to show appreciation to your teams and build internal engagement?
